Jose Gener founded this brand in 1865. Hoyo literally means pit and is said to mean lowland or valley where excellent tobacco grows. The trademark of Hoyo de Monterrey is the packaging of the cigars in unvarnished Cabinet boxes. Hoyo de Monterrey cigars are pleasantly mild, have a delicious aroma and are rich in flavor. Great roasted aromas and a pleasant sweetness characterize them.
